Let's Play!

Fun times outside

Let's Play Mondays

Let’s Play Mondays are dedicated to unstructured play in nature. We meet most Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., except on federal holidays and on occasional days when staff is unavailable. Sessions center on forest school and emergent learning principles to build critical thinking, calculated risk-taking, and empathy. Children will be given the freedom to explore within set boundaries with three rules:

1. Be kind to yourself.

2. Be kind to others.

3. Be kind to nature.

Parents and guardians must stay for the duration of each session per Clayton County Water Authority’s policies; however, parents are discouraged from leading play or answering questions. Children are allowed to become bored. They may take calculated risks, such as walking across a log or climbing over rocks. They will be encouraged to explore their own interests and ask questions. We will provide various props to spark their imagination; however, this will be their time to enjoy the natural world and learn on their own.

Let’s Play Monday sessions will take place rain or shine unless conditions are dangerous. Parents and guardians are responsible for providing sun protection, tick spray, snacks, and hydration.
