Guided Kayak Programs

Let's go kayaking

Program Details

NWC provides free guided flatwater paddling experiences to Clayton County residents and tourists while highlighting the county’s water resources, wildlife, and cultural history. Programs take place on Clayton County Water Authority’s drinking water reservoirs. Two certified Paddlesports Safety Facilitators lead the programs.

Paddlers will be provided a sit-on-top kayak, a life jacket, a paddle, an emergency whistle, and a small dry bag. All other required gear will be the paddler’s responsibility. Paddlers are required to wear quick-dry clothing, closed-toed shoes, weather-appropriate layers, a shirt under their life jacket, and sun protection. We recommend bringing snacks, a towel, a change of clothes, a hat, and binoculars.

The available PFDs are either the NRS Crew Youth (55 – 88 lbs) or an NRS Crew Universal (over 88 lbs, up to 58″ chest). Anyone too small to appropriately wear the youth PFD will not be permitted to paddle.

All Clayton County Water Authority programs are tobacco, drug, and alcohol free.
